Feminism, for God's sake

If there is a phrase about being university sick, that's me these days. I'm craving for those mind challenges our instructors would give us to meet. I am missing my irritation towards those challenges, because, yes, comfortability is overrated, or not really everywhere accepted and well-put as a norma. So, probably, that was a basis for my unconscious/out of big curiosity choice to watch a Youtube video with Russian women talking on feminism. As one of the heroines said, being a feminist in Russia it's like hammering your genitals to the Red Square - the same provocative, crazy, socially unacceptable. Considering this moment and the fact that Russian culture is a deeply patriarchal culture, it was even more interesting to watch. What I really liked is that the conversationalists were from various backgrounds giving, let's say, the picture of multiple opinions and stereotypes on what feminism is and how it's viewed in Russia. I really really liked the fact that those so-called active feminists expressed very "balanced" thoughts on extremes people tend to follow considering feminism or stereotypes tagged to feminists. As another speaker well put: "I don't want my son being nice and gentle only to women, I want him to be like this to all people". I loved the host of the conversation because, first of all, tackling and talking on feminism is not easier than actually actively being a feminist. So, she artistically was turning and twisting the conversation so it would be a talking including opinions, provoking, sometimes, conflicts or just an idea on the probability of conflict here and there due to social, cultural, economic differences. Which is, to some degree, representation of how feminism (=diversity, I am brave to say that) lives in Russian minds and what will win in the moment of "changing ethics".
